A former medieval village, Balaruc, which is nested in the heart of its restored ramparts, still has some beautiful souvenirs from the past, amongst its narrow and treacherous alleyways: Louis XIII gates, several vestiges of medieval churches and a superb Roman and Gothic church, which was recently restored… Balaruc is laid out in the typical form of a circulade, a traditional village which features circular geometry that is specific to numerous market towns in the Languedoc region.
